Polite way to open: "I'd like to" instead of "I want to".

The agent is asking for your passport.
Tip: "I'd like to" is the polite "I want to". It works for almost everything on a trip.

Baggage
You sayI have one bag to check and one carry-on.
One bag goes in the hold, one stays with you.
You will hearPlease place your bag on the scale.
Put the bag on the weighing scale.
Tip: "Carry-on" is your cabin bag. "To check" here means to hand it over, not to inspect it.

Asking for a seat by the window.
You will hearSure. Your gate is B12 and boarding starts at 10:15.

Tip: Focus on the gate number and the time. Those are the two things you will need most.

Asking whether the laptop must come out of the bag.

Confirming you are at the right gate.

Boarding begins in 20 minutes.

Asking the flight attendant for water.
You will hearOf course. Still or sparkling?
Plain water or fizzy water?
Tip: "Still" is plain water, "sparkling" is fizzy. Restaurants ask the same.

Reason and length of stay in one short answer.
Tip: Keep it short. The officer wants the reason and the length, not the story of your trip.

Name the place and show the address.
Tip: Have the address open on your phone before you reach the booth.

The agent needs the sticker from check-in.
Tip: The "baggage tag" is the sticker they put on your boarding pass at check-in. Keep it.
